Hannah has also faced setbacks, at just 27 she developed multi organ failure and then was involved in a series cycling incident in 2018 which she is still recovering from.

Hannah has competed in over 50 marathon and ultra-marathons, she is a keen triathlete and has represented Northern Ireland at masters xc at International level. She has been working with the Ireland woman’s hockey squad in the run up to Tokyo 2020.

A true role model, Hannah’s journey so far is one that should inspire us all.

The Benefits of Running with Dr Clodagh Loughrey- 25th October at 7pm

Dr Clodagh Loughrey.jpg

Clodagh is a consultant physician and Director of Laboratories at Belfast HSC Trust. Her role involves treating patients with diabetes, obesity, eating disorders and other nutritional and metabolic conditions as well as cardiovascular risk management.

Clodagh never felt she was a sporty person but was persuaded to start running at the age of 34 as part of a charity marathon relay team and has not looked back. With a busy full-time job and busy family life as mum to 3 big sons, she finds it great for physical and mental health as well as being a very social activity, running regularly with pals in Ormeau Runners. She has completed many popular events including many years of running in Belfast marathon relay teams, the Rathlin Run, Gr8 Dundrum run, half marathons all over N Ireland, as well as Connemara (her personal favourite), the Great North Run and Amsterdam. She thinks it’s a great excuse for a weekend away with running mates! She is also a big advocate of cross-training and after getting through treatment for cancer helped to set up Lagan Dragons, a dragonboat club in Belfast, which also keeps her busy.  She has walked an overnight marathon around London for charity, and has not yet given up hope of running one; in 2019 she agreed to do a 440km charity cycle along the length of the NI border, by the end of which she knew she preferred running.

Clodagh will discuss the health / medical benefits of exercise with particular emphasis on running.

Introducing Strength & Conditioning with Laura Kerr- 25th November at 7pm

Laura Kerr is an Accredited Strength and Conditioning Coach with an MSc in Human Performance. With 10 years’ experience delivering Strength and Conditioning to athletes Laura will discuss the common needs of runners.  The session will focus on practical approaches to introducing strength and conditioning, plyometrics and running drills to build robustness and prevent common injuries.  More robust runners lose less days to injury every year and can tolerate higher training loads. A sound physical preparation approach will improve running economy and efficiency. Laura leads on physical preparation programming for many of Northern Irelands talented middle and long distance athletes and will reflect on lessons learned so far.

Making Running a Habit with Run NI’s Paula Wallace, Patricia Campbell and Jackie Newton- 13th December at 7pm
