New Run Leader- Jade Hegarty (Trail Run NI)

Why not come along and try out the trails with a dedicated recreational trail running group right here in Belfast?

This community has been created with nature and running in mind, to offer something different to pounding the roads, and to promote the beauty and fun that is running on trails. We’re so lucky that here in Northern Ireland we’ve such an array of trails to choose from, whether it be forests, country parks, or mountains.

If you’re new to trail running, then Trail Run NI will help build your confidence on the trails root by root, and if you’ve dabbled in trails before, then come out and be a part of this growing community! This is an all-paces welcome group; no one will be left behind on the trails!

If you fancy coming along to our first session, there’s just a few things we ask:

·        that you have a base level of running fitness, ideally able to run at least 5k comfortably (pace isn’t important)

·        that you have a decent pair of running shoes with good tread, but trail shoes are ideal

·        bring along a headlamp: until we move more into spring, the trails will be in darkness

This isn’t a competitive training session. The mission of Trail Run NI is to help you to step out of your comfort zone, improve mental health, and enjoy running in nature with a group of like-minded people.

For now, there will be no membership charge as we want people to feel free to try out this new group. Membership will come into effect in April, to coincide with the new financial year.
