Run NI Autumn Webinar Series: Run Well with Dr Juliet McGrattan

Run NI have added a new date to our Autumn Webinar Series: with Dr Juliet McGrattan presenting ‘Run Well: The New Runner’s Top 5 Challenges’.

Dr Juliet McGrattan spent 16 years working as a GP and now uses her medical knowledge and love of running to help and inspire others to lead active lives. Her book, Sorted:The Active Woman’s Guide to Health, published by Bloomsbury, was awarded first prize in the Popular Medicine category in the British Medical Association Medical Book Awards 2018.

Her second book ‘Run Well: Essential health questions and answers for runners’ was published earlier this year. She blogs, writes and presents regularly on the topic of physical activity for health and is the resident Health Expert for Women’s Running magazine. She is the Women’s Health Lead, Master Coach and UK Director for 261 Fearless, a global, non-profit network which empowers women through running.

 

Run Well: The New Runner’s Top 5 Challenges with Dr Juliet McGrattan- Monday 17th January at 7pm

Dr Grattan’s webinar will be a 40 minute presentation plus 10 mins Q and A. Discussing five of the common challenges that create hurdles for new runners including:

  • Why the first ten minutes of any run is so hard

  • Aches, pains and sore muscles

  • Skin issues - chafing and sweating

  • Getting the run/rest balance right

  • Maintaining motivation to keep going (to include the mental health benefits of running)
