We started running in 2015 as a way to keep fit after having children and it wasn't long before we caught the running bug and signed up for a few half marathons and have been running ever since. We are currently part of Dromore AC and have learned a lot about running from the amazing coaches in Dromore AC.

How P&E Fitness Runners started

In 2018 after running for several years and recently qualifying as fitness coaches, we saw the many benefits that running had on our physical and mental  health, and seeing the need in the Newry area for beginner running groups, we decided to do the LIRF (Leader in Running Fitness) course.

After qualifying as LIRF in summer 2018 we began running several C25k in various locations around Newry. By creating a warm and friendly environment, we helped many people of all abilities train to complete their first ever 5k. After seeing the success of the C25k programme and hearing the positive feedback from the participants we decided to run weekly sessions for runners who just completed the 5k to continue to progress onto longer distances and increase their pace.

We currently have a regular friendly group of around 20-30 runners of mixed abilities and meet twice a week in various locations in Newry for speed and endurance training. We also currently run several C25k programmes throughout the year, with each participant receiving a medal and time at finish. We welcome everyone of all abilities to come along and join us.
